Dental bridges are prosthetic devices used to replace one or more missing teeth. They consist of one or more artificial teeth, known as pontics, which are anchored and supported by adjacent natural teeth or dental implants. Dental bridges not only fill the gaps left by missing teeth but also restore the functionality and aesthetics of the smile. The process of getting a dental bridge typically involves multiple dental visits. During the initial visit, the adjacent teeth are prepared by removing a small portion of their enamel to accommodate the bridge. Impressions of the teeth are then taken and sent to a dental laboratory, where the bridge is custom-made to fit the patient's unique dental anatomy. In the meantime, a temporary bridge may be placed to protect the prepared teeth. During the final visit, the temporary bridge is removed, and the permanent bridge is carefully fitted and adjusted for a comfortable bite and natural appearance. Dental bridges offer numerous benefits, including the restoration of chewing and speaking abilities, prevention of adjacent teeth from shifting out of position, improvement in the overall appearance of the smile, and the distribution of bite forces evenly. With proper oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups, dental bridges can provide long-lasting and durable solutions for replacing missing teeth and enhancing oral health.
